THE PROGRAM

ICARUS is a low-density, low-pressure residency for rest, reflection, and artist-led exploration. Each stay is two weeks, hosted within the April–June season. We welcome 1–2 artists per stay, prioritizing spacious time, privacy, and a gentle pace rather than high-output production.

Artist Led Inquiry

Residents arrive with their own questions, curiosities, or “threads” they want to sit with—conceptual, material, or research-based.

Island Based Living

The rythm of each stay is shaped by the island—light, weather, tides, and the practical realities of being in a small place.

Rest as Method

ICARUS is designed to make room for slowness, unstructured time, and recalibration as meaningful conditions for artistic thinking.

Reciprocity

Instead of formal public programming, residents are invited to offer a modest form of giving back—a short reflection, a small sharing moment, or a contribution to the residency archive.

The Program at work

During your stay, we will provide light-touch support to guide your exploration

Pre-arrival orientation
A brief online check-in to align expectations, practical needs, and the resident’s intentions.

Mid-stay curatorial check-in
One gentle online conversation during the stay, offering prompts and questions (supportive, not directive).

Closing reflection
A short wrap-up to capture what shifted, surfaced, or became clearer—without requiring a finished “output.”

The ICARUS Art Residency offers one live-work studio for artists-in-residence.

The studio is a cozy, open space that supports both rest and creation. It includes a king-sized bed, a private bathroom with a stand-up shower, and a living area with a seating nook complete with chairs and a coffee table. It also includes enough floor space to install painting stools, easel, drawing or other materials. A fan is provided for cooling, and the large sliding wall window opens onto a balcony, inviting in sea breeze and breathtaking views. While the room does not have air conditioning, the natural sea breezes and shaded environment provide comfort throughout the day. Artists will enjoy the simple but immersive rhythm of the island.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are provided daily by the in-house cook, featuring warm, delicious Filipino dishes. We want artists to feel cared for, so they can focus on their practice.

Wi-Fi available on the property; please note that due to the remote location, the connection an be inconsistent at times.

Laundry service is available for a fee (400PH) through the residency headquarters

Important Notes

Artist are expected to bring their own art supplies and materials

The residency grounds include many stairs, and both the room and the nearby beaches are accessible only by stairway. We regret the inaccessibility this may present for some artists.

The island experiences tropical weather, with temperatures ranging from 29°C to 34°C (84°F to 93°F) throughout the year. We recommend bringing light clothing, sun protection, and a refillable water bottle.
